- Sessions
- Single session; the effect is temporary
- Duration
- About 15 minutes
- Recovery
- Back to daily life the same day
Who is it suitable for?
Considered for people bothered by lines that appear with movement — forehead lines, frown lines and crow's feet. It can also be used for teeth grinding and masseter muscle bulk.
How does it work?
Botulinum toxin temporarily reduces the signal travelling from the nerve ending to the muscle. With the muscle contracting less, the skin over it folds less and dynamic lines soften. The effect is not permanent; muscle function returns over time.
How is it performed?
The target muscles are identified and small doses are injected with very fine needles. Dosing is individual — the aim is to balance excessive contraction, not to erase expression.
What to watch for afterwards
Do not lie down for a few hours afterwards, do not massage the area, and avoid saunas and heavy exercise that day. The effect usually begins within a few days and settles fully within two weeks.
This treatment is not for everyone
Who should not have it?
Not performed during pregnancy or breastfeeding, in people with neuromuscular disease (such as myasthenia gravis), where there is infection in the treatment area, or in people with a history of allergy to the toxin.
Frequently asked
About this treatment
How long does it last?
The effect of botulinum toxin is not permanent; it fades and muscle movement gradually returns. How long depends on your muscle structure, the area treated and the dose. When to repeat is decided at follow-up.
When does it start working?
Not immediately. It begins within a few days and settles over a few weeks. That is why nothing is judged in the first days, and the review appointment is planned accordingly.
Will my face look frozen?
The aim is not to remove expression but to balance excessive contraction. The dose and the points treated are planned around your own muscle structure. Keeping expression natural is treated as the measure of a good result.
What side effects are possible?
Temporary redness and small bruises at the injection points, and in some people a short-lived headache. These settle on their own. Temporary drooping of an eyelid has rarely been reported; contact the clinic if that happens.
What should I avoid afterwards?
For the first hours, avoid massaging the area, staying bent forward for long periods, and saunas, steam rooms and heavy exercise on the same day. Follow any specific instruction you are given.
If I stop, will the lines be worse?
When treatment stops the muscles return to their own movement, and lines return to the course they were on before. They do not become worse than they were.
What should I do before the appointment?
Medicines and supplements that thin the blood — aspirin, ibuprofen-type painkillers, vitamin E, omega-3 — make bruising more likely. Tell us before your appointment if you take any; whether and when to pause them is your doctor's decision. Never stop a prescribed medicine on your own. If you have a history of cold sores, say so: an injection can trigger one.
Does it hurt? Is anaesthetic used?
Very fine needles are used, and a topical anaesthetic cream is applied beforehand where it helps. Most people describe a mild sting. Pain thresholds differ, so if you are uncomfortable during the procedure just say so — it can be paused and more can be done.
Can it be done during pregnancy or breastfeeding?
Aesthetic injections are not advised during pregnancy or breastfeeding. There is not enough safety data for these periods, so they are avoided. Tell us beforehand if you are or might be pregnant, or are breastfeeding.
Who performs the treatment?
The assessment, the planning and the injection are all carried out by Dr. Burak Gümüşçü. What will be done, why, and what the alternatives are is explained before anything begins.
Which products are used?
Only licensed, single-use, sterile products. If you would like to know the name and contents of the product being used, that is shared at the consultation, and the packaging is opened in front of you.
Why is there no price on the site?
Türkiye's health advertising rules prohibit clinics from publishing prices or promotional offers. Beyond that, the amount used and the number of sessions vary from person to person, so a single figure would be misleading. Your own figure is given directly after the consultation.
Can another treatment be done in the same session?
Some treatments can be planned together in one session; others need to be spaced apart. That is decided after the face is assessed as a whole — the aim is to get the order right, not to add procedures.
