- Sessions
- Single session
- Duration
- About 20–30 minutes
- Recovery
- Swelling can last a few days
Who is it suitable for?
Considered for people noticing a lack of volume, asymmetry, an indistinct border or age-related thinning of the lips. My approach is not exaggerated volume, but a natural result in keeping with your own lip structure.
How does it work?
Hyaluronic acid is a molecule found naturally in the body with a high capacity to hold water. Delivered into lip tissue in controlled amounts, it supports volume and hydration. It is broken down naturally by the body over time.
How is it performed?
A topical anaesthetic cream is applied beforehand. The filler is placed gradually with a cannula or needle, with symmetry checked at each stage.
What to watch for afterwards
Avoid heat (sauna, steam room), heavy exercise and pressure on the area for the first 24–48 hours. Swelling, and rarely bruising, is expected and usually settles within a few days.
This treatment is not for everyone
Who should not have it?
Not performed during pregnancy or breastfeeding, during an active cold sore (herpes) outbreak, where there is infection in the area, or in people with a history of allergy to hyaluronic acid.
Frequently asked
About this treatment
How long does it last?
Hyaluronic acid fillers are not permanent; the body absorbs them over time. How long depends on the product, the area and your metabolism. When a repeat might be needed is discussed at follow-up.
Can it be reversed if I do not like it?
Hyaluronic acid fillers can be dissolved with an enzyme called hyaluronidase. That makes the treatment reversible, which is a meaningful safety advantage over permanent fillers.
How long do swelling and bruising last?
Lips are among the areas most prone to swelling; some in the first days is expected and usually settles quickly. Any bruising changes colour as it fades. The result should be judged once the swelling has fully resolved, not in the first days.
Will it look natural?
Naturalness depends far more on placement than on volume. Treatment is planned around your own lip structure and its relationship to your teeth and chin. If a volume is requested that does not suit that structure, you will be told plainly why it is not appropriate.
What should I avoid afterwards?
For the first days, avoid very hot environments, saunas and steam rooms, intense exercise, and pressure on the area. Tell us in advance if you have a history of cold sores.
What if I get a cold sore?
In people prone to them, an injection can trigger one. Tell us your history; if your doctor thinks it necessary, preventive treatment is planned before the procedure.
What should I do before the appointment?
Medicines and supplements that thin the blood — aspirin, ibuprofen-type painkillers, vitamin E, omega-3 — make bruising more likely. Tell us before your appointment if you take any; whether and when to pause them is your doctor's decision. Never stop a prescribed medicine on your own. If you have a history of cold sores, say so: an injection can trigger one.
Does it hurt? Is anaesthetic used?
Very fine needles are used, and a topical anaesthetic cream is applied beforehand where it helps. Most people describe a mild sting. Pain thresholds differ, so if you are uncomfortable during the procedure just say so — it can be paused and more can be done.
Can it be done during pregnancy or breastfeeding?
Aesthetic injections are not advised during pregnancy or breastfeeding. There is not enough safety data for these periods, so they are avoided. Tell us beforehand if you are or might be pregnant, or are breastfeeding.
Who performs the treatment?
The assessment, the planning and the injection are all carried out by Dr. Burak Gümüşçü. What will be done, why, and what the alternatives are is explained before anything begins.
Which products are used?
Only licensed, single-use, sterile products. If you would like to know the name and contents of the product being used, that is shared at the consultation, and the packaging is opened in front of you.
Why is there no price on the site?
Türkiye's health advertising rules prohibit clinics from publishing prices or promotional offers. Beyond that, the amount used and the number of sessions vary from person to person, so a single figure would be misleading. Your own figure is given directly after the consultation.
Can another treatment be done in the same session?
Some treatments can be planned together in one session; others need to be spaced apart. That is decided after the face is assessed as a whole — the aim is to get the order right, not to add procedures.
