Scalp

Hair PRP

Platelet-rich plasma, prepared from your own blood, applied to the scalp.

Sessions
Usually a course of sessions
Duration
About 30–40 minutes
Recovery
Back to daily life the same day

Who is it suitable for?

Considered for people with hair loss and thinning whose follicles have not been lost entirely. Because your own blood is used, the risk of an allergic reaction is very low.

How does it work?

A small amount of blood is drawn from your arm and separated in a centrifuge to yield platelet-rich plasma. Platelets carry growth factors involved in tissue repair. Injecting this plasma into the scalp aims to support the repair and nourishment processes around the follicle.

How is it performed?

The blood draw, centrifugation and injection all happen in one session, taking about half an hour in total. A topical anaesthetic cream may be used beforehand.

What to watch for afterwards

Do not wash your hair on the day; avoid saunas, pools and heavy exercise for 24–48 hours. Temporary redness and tenderness in the area is expected.

This treatment is not for everyone

Who should not have it?

Not performed in blood disorders, platelet function disorders, active infection, uncontrolled chronic illness, pregnancy or breastfeeding. Use of blood thinners is assessed separately.

Frequently asked

About this treatment

It uses my own blood — is there an allergy risk?

PRP is prepared from your own blood, so an allergic reaction to the material is not expected. As with any injection, temporary redness and tenderness at the site can occur.

How much blood is taken?

An amount comparable to a routine blood test. It is spun in a centrifuge to separate the plasma, which takes a few minutes, and is then applied to the scalp.

When do results show?

Because of the hair's natural cycle, change is assessed over months; what is noticed first is usually slower shedding. Age, how long the loss has been present and its cause all shape the outcome.

How many sessions before a break?

An initial course is usually applied, followed by spaced maintenance. The number and interval are not fixed; they are revised at follow-up according to how the scalp responds.

Who should not have it?

It is not applied in blood disorders, clotting problems, active infection, or skin disease at the treatment site. If you take blood thinners, you must say so.

Can I exercise afterwards?

Avoid sweaty exercise, saunas and pools on the first day. Normal activity usually resumes the next day; if you need a specific restriction you will be told.

What should I do before the appointment?

Medicines and supplements that thin the blood — aspirin, ibuprofen-type painkillers, vitamin E, omega-3 — make bruising more likely. Tell us before your appointment if you take any; whether and when to pause them is your doctor's decision. Never stop a prescribed medicine on your own. If you have a history of cold sores, say so: an injection can trigger one.

Does it hurt? Is anaesthetic used?

Very fine needles are used, and a topical anaesthetic cream is applied beforehand where it helps. Most people describe a mild sting. Pain thresholds differ, so if you are uncomfortable during the procedure just say so — it can be paused and more can be done.

Can it be done during pregnancy or breastfeeding?

Aesthetic injections are not advised during pregnancy or breastfeeding. There is not enough safety data for these periods, so they are avoided. Tell us beforehand if you are or might be pregnant, or are breastfeeding.

Who performs the treatment?

The assessment, the planning and the injection are all carried out by Dr. Burak Gümüşçü. What will be done, why, and what the alternatives are is explained before anything begins.

Which products are used?

Only licensed, single-use, sterile products. If you would like to know the name and contents of the product being used, that is shared at the consultation, and the packaging is opened in front of you.

Why is there no price on the site?

Türkiye's health advertising rules prohibit clinics from publishing prices or promotional offers. Beyond that, the amount used and the number of sessions vary from person to person, so a single figure would be misleading. Your own figure is given directly after the consultation.

Can another treatment be done in the same session?

Some treatments can be planned together in one session; others need to be spaced apart. That is decided after the face is assessed as a whole — the aim is to get the order right, not to add procedures.
