Under-eye salmon DNA (Rejuran): who is it for?
Under-eye salmon DNA is a common name for polynucleotide applications considered to support the quality of thin, mobile skin around the eyes. Rejuran is one frequently searched brand. It is important to distinguish what the application may improve, what it cannot address and why the exact product matters.
What is under-eye salmon DNA?
The short answer is small-volume injections of purified, fish-derived polynucleotides into the skin around the eyes. The aim is to support hydration, texture and the appearance of fine lines, rather than add volume.
“Salmon DNA” is an everyday umbrella term rather than the name of one precise medical formulation. PN and PDRN are related but not identical; chain structure, concentration and formulation differ between products. An application's name alone cannot determine its effect, schedule or suitability.
Assessment first considers whether the concern reflects skin quality, lost volume, bags, pigment or visible vessels.
What is Rejuran?
Rejuran is a brand family containing purified fish-derived polynucleotides. Not every polynucleotide product is Rejuran, and different variants within the family may have different formulations and uses.
A brand name does not guarantee a result. The exact product, ingredients, formulation, intended area, sterile single-use packaging, batch and expiry date all matter. Around the eyes, injection plane, amount and anatomical assessment are as important as product selection.
Who may be assessed for treatment?
People describing dryness, fine crepey texture, superficial lines or reduced skin quality may be assessed. Change is expected to develop gradually rather than produce immediate filler-like volume.
Response varies with age, skin structure, sun damage, smoking, accompanying conditions and the product used. A fixed success rate, duration or identical session schedule for everyone would be misleading.
When is it insufficient on its own?
A pronounced tear trough may reflect volume loss; bags may relate to fat and supporting structures; darkness may involve pigment, vessels or shadows. Polynucleotides do not address all these causes and are not an automatic substitute for under-eye filler.
Several causes can coexist. Under-eye mesotherapy describes a wider application technique, whereas salmon DNA describes one group of ingredients. Examination distinguishes the relevant concern.
Application and recovery
A suitable product is administered in tiny amounts through microinjections. The plan is individualised to anatomy, skin thickness, symptoms and previous procedures.
Small raised injection marks, swelling, redness, tenderness or bruising may occur initially. Under-eye swelling varies. Less common risks include infection and allergic reactions. Worsening pain, colour changes, visual symptoms or unexpected findings require prompt medical contact.
Product quality and purity
Raw material source, purification, formulation, sterility, transport and storage conditions matter. Sealed packaging, batch and expiry checks, and opening a single-use product during treatment are part of safety.
Choosing a product online solely by its brand overlooks the treatment area and personal risks. The appropriate Rejuran variant is selected using examination and product information.
When is treatment avoided or postponed?
Elective treatment is avoided or deferred during pregnancy or breastfeeding, with an active infection or cold sore at the site, or known allergy to ingredients. Tell the doctor about fish allergy, bleeding disorders, immune conditions and regular medication.
Do not stop anticoagulants yourself. Medication and suitability decisions require assessment by the prescribing and treating doctors.
What does the evidence say?
Published reviews and comparative periorbital studies report improvements in some measures of skin quality following polynucleotide injections. Products, methods, sample sizes and outcome measures differ, and the evidence is still developing.
These findings do not establish the same result for everyone. The aim is to select an appropriate concern and product and follow change through standard photographs and medical reviews.
Frequently asked questions
Is Rejuran the same as salmon DNA?
Rejuran is a brand of purified fish-derived PN products. Salmon DNA is a wider everyday term; brand, product variant, PN and PDRN are not interchangeable terms.
Will it completely remove dark circles?
No guarantee can be made. Darkness has several possible causes; polynucleotides may target only an appropriate skin-quality component.
Does it replace filler?
Not always. Filler targets a volume deficit; polynucleotides aim to support skin quality. Examination may find either, both or neither appropriate.
The general treatment page covers preparation and further questions. Individual suitability requires examination. This information does not replace medical advice.
